First Birthday!

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetI just wanted to share photos of Ezra’s 1st Birthday and show you how we made his special PKU cake look. It was a success and we all had an amazing time with family and friends! The photos were taken by a friend, Abbey. She has taken pictures of Ezra before and the photos ALWAYS turn out so good! If you are in the Norman/Moore/OKC area, you should definitely check her out and book a session! Here’s the link to her Facebook page: Abigail Paxton Photography

(Some photos I took with my phone when I got a chance to. I felt so busy the entire time!)

So there’s not really a name for the theme..I guess it would be “Animal Parade” or “Animals wearing birthday hats?” haha. It was all inspired by things I saw on Pinterest. What’s new.

Here’s what the cake looked like prior to smashing:

Here’s what it looked like after:

We made the Nutricia Loprofin Chocolate Cake. They actually sent us one for free since it was his birthday! It was super easy to make:

  • Nutricia cake mix
  • Sunflower Oil
  • Sparkling water
  • Mix
  • Then bake it!

Easy peasey lemon squeezy.

The birthday hats I made for the animal figurines! Made out of craft patterned paper, washi tape, string and small pom poms. The birthday hats on the table for the kiddos were from the $1-$5 section in Target. I got a lot of Ezra’s birthday decorations from there!

For foods, we basically had cupcakes (I printed pictures of animals for the cupcake toppers), fruit, zebra cakes, chex mix, animals crackers, etc. Since Ezra wasn’t really eating table foods at the time, we didn’t have that many foods pertaining to PKU. Mainly just the smash cake. Oh and lots of confetti on the tables!

I spray painted these small animal figurines gold so they would stand out against the black table cloth. I loved how they looked! Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! So yeah that pretty much covers it. We had a great time and although it was stressful getting everything together last minute, it was fun decorating. Thanks for reading! XOXO, Sky
